Configuring the port group security


Port groups provide different types of functionalities in the vSphere environment. For example, a VMkernel port group can be used for fault tolerance logging, IP storage, and vMotion. Another type of port group is a virtual machine (VM) network type. Multiple VM networks are used to segment traffic into different trust zones such as internal (trusted) and external (untrusted).

Getting ready

In order to proceed, we require access to vSphere Web Client. This client can be run on any modern Windows desktop operating system or server operating system.

Note

vSphere Web Client requires Adobe Flash, which is not supported on Linux operating systems at this time.

We must be logged in to vSphere Web Client with a user account in the administrators group.

How to do it…

Navigate to the vCenter view and then perform the following steps:

  1. Expand Datacenter from the pane on the left-hand side.

  2. Expand Cluster from the pane on the left-hand side.
