Chapter 4. Reporting in Configuration Manager

Reporting is used when you want to analyze the data that is collected by System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2. The product itself gives a wide range of predefined reports out of the box, which are more than enough to meet your demands. The product also allows you to create custom reports. In order to create a custom report, you need to know what data you want to show in your report and where to find the data in the Configuration Manager database. You access this data by constructing a SQL query, which you then use to create your report. In this chapter, we will see how to use the reporting section of System Center Configuration Manager. The chapter also concentrates on how to create a report in a secure manner and custom reports on demand.
