In Chapter 4, The Big Wide World of Spotfire, we started looking at Information Designer and the elements needed to create an information link. We're going to take a closer look now and build an example, not just of how an information link can be used to extract data, but also to write data from Spotfire to a database. To use Information Designer, you must have a reasonable command of SQL and relational database principles, although Spotfire will do a lot of the work for you and try to make the process user friendly by building the SQL query step by step.
