Clarifying common misconceptions

The pure nature of AI, doomsday or otherwise, is challenging for the majority of people to conceptualize. Attempting to simplify these advanced technical concepts can prove to be challenging, especially with the whirlwind of “fake news” plaguing our world. For that reason, I think it’s a great idea to acknowledge that there are several misconceptions about ChatGPT and OpenAI that are worth addressing:

  • ChatGPT is fully autonomous: ChatGPT is not a fully autonomous AI system but, instead, a machine learning model that generates text based on the input it receives. It is not capable of independent thought or decision-making and can only generate responses based on the information it has been trained on.
