Reviewing types of training materials
I will keep this very brief. You do not need to be fancy to create training materials. They can be as simple as a Word document with screenshots. Let’s see some common types of training materials that we all can create:
- PowerPoint or PDF deck with detailed, step-by-step instructions. This will inform and instruct the users step by step.
- Recorded training session by user role, function, or module.
- Quick reference guide. This can be a Word document or PDF file.
- Training manual for instructor-led training.
- Job aid – a simple, short, one- to two-page instruction document categorized by function, so that users can get the right information in the right format to do their job.
- Computer-based training or e-learning.
- Handouts.
