Designing data migration strategies

A migration strategy provides a clear understanding of the activities, steps, and impact of moving from one system to another. Solution Architects design migration strategies by considering the following factors:

  • The volume of data to be migrated
  • The structure and format of the data to be migrated
  • The route to access the source data
  • The destination for the data
  • The level of data processing required by the data
  • The impact of potential API throttling
  • The production downtime required
