Defining extensible Power Platform data models

When creating a model for the data to be stored within Dataverse, solution architects review the business requirements, alongside Dataverse’s capabilities, and aim to create a design that fulfills short-term and long-term goals. To make those design decisions, solution architects must have a thorough understanding of Dataverse’s table and column capabilities, which are as follows:

Dataverse table types

At a high level, Dataverse tables may be categorized as either standard tables, activity tables, or virtual tables.

Standard tables

Standard tables make up most of the tables that are used within a Power Platform application. They benefit from the full range of security role permissions. They store general business data that resides within Dataverse and do not need to be automatically linked to other activity-enabled tables...
