In this chapter, we traveled back to earlier times when wars were fought with swords, knives, and daggers. The 20th century brought industrialization and factories. These factories manufactured weapons such as guns, tanks, and missiles. Guns were not new, but advancements in technology created rapid-firing machine guns. Tanks as armored combat vehicles equipped with cannons and machine guns were more effective than rifles. Air superiority then became critical to victory. Aircraft with bombing capabilities changed the nature of war during this era. Now, what is changing in the 21st century is the addition of cyberwarfare.
This cocktail of kinetic war and cyberwarfare is lethal, as it impacts the lives and infrastructure of civilians. In the future, dependence on digitization for payments, communication, food supply, and transportation will be exploited, causing disruption to social life and business.
