Sometimes, my mind ponders over how digital my life has become, and I wonder whether it is even possible to live a meaningful life without a phone. My phone structures my life – from meetings, music, and connections with my family and friends to office work, emails, news, stocks, travel, maps, and a lot more.
It’s tough to have a productive day without a smartphone – it assists you in traveling (Google Maps/Uber), meetings (Outlook and Teams/Zoom, among others), keeping in touch with family and friends (WhatsApp/Signal/Telegram), and ordering food when you are back home. As I sink into my chair to check my emails for the day, I tend to think about what kind of risks I am inviting by having so much of my work (and life in general) depend upon my phone.
