Web browser activity is often one of the most revealing categories of user artifacts. Search terms, visited websites, downloaded files, and synced account activity can expose what a user was thinking, planning, or attempting to accomplish at a specific moment in time. This type of evidence is also easy for juries and stakeholders to understand, since searching for something is usually interpreted as intentional behavior.
For example, a suspect might claim an illicit download was accidental, but that narrative collapses quickly if browser history shows they explicitly searched for the contraband beforehand. Beyond intent, browser artifacts help us identify who was likely using a system, trace the origins of files found elsewhere on the device, and, in some cases, even recover saved passwords.
