Summary
In this chapter, we learned how to use TypeORM to connect a MySQL database to our application, as well as how to implement some resolvers to get and remove data from the database. This enabled us to write a functional GraphQL API with resolvers that get data from a real MySQL database.
We used TypeORM to abstract database operations, which allows you to utilize any chosen database management system for your application without changing the code.
We looked at how to generate and populate our database tables with initial data before integrating TypeORM with Apollo.
This chapter is now complete! In the following chapter, we'll continue building our backend application with Apollo Server and Node.js to implement authentication and image uploading.
