In Umbraco, a document type is a blueprint for content on your site. It defines the structure and properties of a piece of content, such as a page or a component of a page.
Document types allow you to manage and organize content consistently across a website by setting up rules and templates that content editors follow when creating new pages or elements.
There are several key aspects of document types, as shown in Table 14.4:
