You may have noticed that most themes have a splash screen when they are accessed for the first time. This screen is a useful way of conveying important information about the theme or your organization. Here is an example; in this case it is the Autumn theme by Patrick Malley:
All that we need to do to have a theme splash screen is to add an HTML file called readme.html
in the theme's root folder. You can add any information that you want in this file, including links and graphics, if required.
Give it a go, and create a basic readme.html
file. Enter the theme name into it, and then save this file to your theme's folder.
Obviously, you will probably want to add more information, and format the headers and links (if any) so that they are more prominent.
