Starting your Application

Database hosting with Cloudant


In this section, we are going to set up a Cloudant server and prepare it for our application to connect to. There's very little setup to be done, and it will hopefully seem familiar to the steps we took early in the book when we set up our CouchDB databases.

Getting started with Cloudant

Creating a Cloudant account is super easy, but let's walk through it just so that we're all on the same page.

  1. 1. Start by going to https://cloudant.com/sign-up/, and you'll see the signup page.

  2. 2. Cloudant just needs some basic information to create your account. Start by entering a username. This will be used as your unique identifier and the link to your Cloudant account. I'd recommend picking something like your name or company name.

  3. 3. Fill in the rest of the information on the page, and click the sign up button at the bottom of the page when you're ready!

    You're all done, and you should be looking at your Cloudant dashboard. From here, you can manage your account and create...
