Patches

As eZ Systems continue to develop and release newer versions of eZ publish, there are times that a patch needs to be applied to fix a bug before the next version will be ready. There are two ways that you can handle these patches: do it yourself or pay eZ Systems to do it for you.

You can choose to purchase one of the many products that eZ Systems are now offering; they come with automatic patching and for some versions of the product, eZ Systems will also take responsibility for upgrades (more about that in the next section). The benefit of this approach is that you don't need to worry about keeping your version of eZ publish up-to-date; however, you do have to pay for this privilege.

To date, my experience with patching has been the manual approach. We apply the patches when we see them being necessary. This is usually for security patches or bug fixes that we see as necessary.
