Preface

Exploring and editing installed templates


The Template Manager | Templates screen allows you to find out more about the templates that are installed. Here you can preview them and you can edit the template HTML and CSS files. Let's first have a look at the available templates included in the default installation of Joomla! 1.6. After that, we'll check out the ability to change the template code.

What templates are available?

Up to now, we've mainly worked with Beez 2.0, the default template in Joomla! 1.6. However, there are a few extra templates available in the Joomla! package. Navigate to Extensions | Template Manager and click on the Templates tab to go to the Templates Manager : Templates screen:

Here all available templates are displayed. In the Location column you can see if it's a frontend or a backend template. Joomla! comes with four frontend templates (Location: Site) and two templates can be used in the backend (Location: Administrator).
