Summary


Auditing enables you to record and examine changes made to the records in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Auditing does not start by default. Auditing needs to be configured at the organization, entity, and field levels.

Audit Summary View and Audit History View are two methods for viewing audit data. The audit data cannot be used in reports, queried in Advanced Find, or exported to Excel.

Audit Summary View provides a filterable list of the system-wide audited operations. The options to filter by are Changed Date, Event, Changed By, Entity, and Operation.

Audit History of an audited record is a filterable list of the audited operations on the record. There is an option to filter by auditable field.

The audit data is stored in an audit log. A separate audit log is created every three months. Over time, audit logs can consume significant amounts of storage time. The oldest audit log can be deleted when it is no longer required.
