Introduction

VMware Horizon View Persona Management is a feature that is included with all Horizon View license levels; its purpose is to preserve Windows user profile data by dynamically replicating it back and forth between the desktop and a remote profile repository, typically referred to as a Horizon View Persona Management repository.

Horizon View Persona Management improves upon Microsoft roaming profiles by only loading profile data when it is required, synchronizing profile changes back to the persona management repository at specified intervals, enabling persistent user application settings and data, and providing other benefits described in this chapter. Horizon View Persona Management might, in some cases, eliminate the need for a virtual desktop's persistent data disk or the use of assigned Horizon View desktops, as all critical user data and settings are maintained in the persona management repository and provided to the user on demand.
