With the System Center 2012 SP1 release, Microsoft presented a new feature that provided online protection that could easily integrate with the System Center Data Protection Manager server software. As Microsoft released the 2012 R2 version of System Center Data Protection Manager, great effort to optimize the online protection feature was made.

In the Microsoft Azure Management Portal, Microsoft created a service called backup vault that can easily be connected to both DPM servers as well as the WSB feature for Windows 2012 Server.
