Restoring file data from tape

A scenario that backup administrators may meet with is when you must restore data from an archiving media—like tape. This recipe will provide you with the steps to recover protected data from tape.

Getting ready

Make sure that your library is online and does not report any errors; this can be done by verifying the alerts in the Monitoring section of the DPM console or in the Libraries section of the Management part of the DPM console.

How to do it…

In the DPM console, go to Recovery and choose the data source you would like to recover.
Note
For file, exchange, and SharePoint data, you can use the search function if you don't know where the file or object you want to restore can be found.
Mark the data source and choose the data and time for the restore. Right-click on the data source and choose Recover… to start the Recovery wizard.
In the Review Recovery Selection step, review the items that you have chosen for recovery. To continue, click on Next >.
