Configuring LDAP


From the SSC menu you now move to the Sametime prerequisites. You already have your SSC database which is in place, and your next step is to set up the LDAP server details for your directory and authentication. The LDAP server(s) configured here are used by all of the Sametime server components.

The LDAP Deployment name you use is purely for maintenance and administrative purposes. It is not visible to any user and selecting a meaningful name can be very useful for administration.

The required fields are the hostname of the LDAP server and the port on which the LDAP server is available. Although you can use the unencrypted LDAP port 389 and anonymous access to connect to your directory, this is extremely insecure. Your LDAP administrator should be able to provide you with credentials that give you ready access to the directory and that you can use to bind to the LDAP store. They should also be able to enable SSL on their LDAP server so you can connect using the secure port...
