Summary

In this chapter, we have provided an overview of the new Test Engine project related to testing automation in Power Apps. As the project is still in its experimental phase, we have discussed how it addresses some of the limitations of Test Studio by maintaining Power Fx syntax and compatibility with Test Studio, allowing for reusing tests recorded in Test Studio.

We also discussed the additional features offered by Test Engine, such as connector mocking, screenshots, and video recording, as well as the limitations of Test Studio that Test Engine covers, such as component testing and nested galleries.

Based on Playwright, Test Engine has some limitations, such as a less user-friendly interface (command line) compared to a visual low-code tool and currently not supporting model-driven apps. However, the development team has plans to continue improving and expanding the capabilities of Test Engine, including integration with CI/CD processes.

Additionally, Test Engine...
