WordPress multisite is a very attractive solution for individuals who manage multiple individual WordPress blogs. Bringing those individual blogs into one WordPress multisite network would be ideal, allowing the administrator to administer all blogs from one location, the Network dashboard.
The process of moving a standalone WordPress blog into a multisite network sounds as if it could be quite an undertaking but it's actually not that scary process.
In this chapter, I'll be using my longren.org blog as an example of a standalone WordPress site that we want to move to multisite.longren.org/tlongren/.
Before you do anything, I suggest you make multiple backups. Back up the standalone blog and back up the multisite network you're importing the standalone blog into. Just back everything up, please.
