Chapter 6. Increasing Traffic to Your Blog

In the previous chapter we looked at ways to keep our blog network spam free and safe for our blog authors and their readers. Now that we've done this, we need to spread the word about the blog network to make sure that as many slayers as possible start using the site. This chapter will look at some popular traffic and visitor retention enhancing features of WordPress MU such as tagging, pings, trackbacks, and RSS.

In this chapter we will look at:

  • Allowing your visitors to use tags to categorize their posts

  • Advertising blog updates with pings

  • Sending trackbacks when you post about other blogs

  • Letting visitors subscribe to blogs via RSS feeds
