RESS Essentials
In this chapter, we created a sample HTML document that adjusts its layout to the screen size. We used Twitter's Bootstrap framework for its reset styles, default formatting, and responsive components library (here we employed just a responsive toolbar), and integrated it with a responsive grid created with the Gridpak tool. We still have some unsolved problems here, the most important of them being images. They scale nicely in all resolutions; however, when providing for a 320px screen size, images that look nice in resolutions above 2000px are a waste of bandwidth, device memory, and processing power. To optimize this, we will take a look at our Server Side options such as device detection libraries.
