In this chapter we covered the BuddyPress plugin suite. This suite has a lot of powerful social networking features and integrates well with WordPress MU. Your users could spend all their time on the "social" side of your site if they want, and they would still be able to enjoy the blogs, forum posts, and other contributions made by their fellow users.
It is up to each individual webmaster to decide if he/she would prefer to have the emphasis on the blogging side or on the community side of their site.
Specifically, we learned how to install BuddyPress and how to integrate BuddyPress with bbPress and WordPress MU so that you have a fully featured social network and blogging site, rather than something that feels like three different web sites.
We learned about the different features of BuddyPress, including groups, user feeds, and the wire, and we talked about how you can promote the most interesting groups and the most active users.
