Allowing Comments on Our Weblog Entries


Comments are one of the easiest ways for visitors to interact with your site. They are also an easy way to attract spammers, who will be glad to leave hundreds of comments linking to websites of dubious quality. Luckily, ExpressionEngine includes features designed to prevent abuse. So first, we are going to review our options:

Preventing Comment Spam

  1. 1. Comment preferences are set on a per-weblog basis. This allows you to choose different preferences for different parts of your website. Go to Admin | Weblog Administration | Weblog Management. Select Edit Preferences for the Toast Products weblog.

  2. 2. On the left are all the aspects of the weblog that you can fine-tune, and in the main screen are the preferences themselves. The General Weblog Preferences were set when we created the weblog, and include the weblog name and short name. We will not change these.
