Chapter 7. Creating a Calendar

Many organizations have events, and a very visual way of keeping people up-to-date with events is to have an events calendar. Having a calendar not only lets people easily find out what they need to know about a certain event, but can often give visitors information they didn't know they needed to know (such as another event they would enjoy).

In this chapter:

  • We are going to use the native functionality of ExpressionEngine to build a simple events calendar that anyone can use.

  • We will post new events to our calendar using the Publish page of ExpressionEngine.

  • We are going to display an overview of upcoming events underneath the calendar.

  • We will allow events to be clickable so that interested visitors can get more information than will fit in a calendar cell.

Our toast calendar will provide information on upcoming community events that our Toast for Sale! staff is participating in.
