Changing the Design of Our Photo Gallery


As with everything in ExpressionEngine, what we are seeing when we visit our photo gallery is powered by templates. The only difference is that these templates were auto-generated when we created the photo gallery, whereas in the previous chapters we were the ones creating the templates from scratch.

This does make it more complicated to fit the gallery into our existing website design. To make it easier, rather than trying to retrofit the automatically generated templates to the outline of our other pages, we will create new templates starting from our normal page outline and gradually add in the gallery features from the auto-generated templates.

Create the Single-Entry Page Layout

The single-entry page is where an individual photograph is displayed, along with the caption and any comments. In the auto-generated templates, there are two single-entry pages: http://localhost/toastgallery/image_med (or http://www.example.com/toastgallery/image_med...
