Chapter 5. Create an Advanced Weblog

So far we have used ExpressionEngine in two very different ways. We have created a basic weblog for the President's news and created an entire website. With both of these we can edit the existing text on the page or post new content without seeing a HTML tag at all. In this chapter, we are going to create a more advanced weblog that we will use to showcase our products. This weblog will:

  • Use customized fields tailored to the products we are selling

  • Allow us to browse multiple products and then drill-down to get more information on specific products

  • Use comments to allow visitors to submit reviews of the products they have tried

From what we learned in the last chapter, we should now be familiar with the process of creating a weblog, creating customized fields, associating the fields with our weblog, posting our first entry, and creating a template. We will follow that same process in this chapter.
