is a built-in function of AviSynth and there are many others to suit every purpose. For those unfamiliar with scripting, you may invoke a function by typing its function name followed by round brackets (parentheses) to designate the function call. In the above case, the function did not require any parameters or arguments; otherwise, we would need to specify them within the round brackets.
For example, let us load an AVI file and serve it to our video player with the following script:
AVISource("d:\path\to\my_file.avi")
