Challenges or risks you should anticipate with regards to your program


I wanted to address challenges and risks you should anticipate here. So often, great work gets derailed. I wanted to guide you on what some of these could be and why they happen after you and your enterprise have spent so much time and money to put an ITAM/SAM program in place.

Many organizations implement a tool and do not invest in the planning of the project to support their ITAM/SAM program. I have seen first-hand how risky this point of view can be. If the tool does not have the proper planning, well-defined processes, and enforceable policies in place to support the tool and design a system to ensure your organization complies with the plans and policies, the tool will receive resistance and the organization ends up frustrated and wasting resources.
