Summary

In this chapter, you learned about a lot of concepts, including how to plan for and configure Distributed Cache, the User Profile service application, My Sites, Workflow Manager, web applications, and the content type hub. Each of these areas is fundamental to the performance and usability of a farm. Many of the configurations are only performed once, but they must be done correctly to ensure the farm has a good foundation.

One of the most important topics we covered was configuring My Sites and the User Profile service these two services are critical for helping end users get the most value out of SharePoint Server. The SharePoint User Profile service can be used to aggregate data from many systems. It then uses that data to build a robust interface for users to interact with their personal data. The User Profile service and My Sites applications are interconnected, so when you make modifications to one, you have to be aware of implications on the other.
