Planning and Configuring Modern Lists and Libraries

The modern list and library experiences were first introduced to SharePoint Online in 2016. They have since been introduced to on-premises versions of SharePoint.

The modern list and library experiences are designed to make it easier for users to navigate and update lists, as well as upload and interact with documents.

Modern lists

Modern lists are easily added from a modern site's Site Contents menu. Simply click on the +New button at the top of the page and select a list:

Selecting the Show in site navigation checkbox will cause the newly provisioned site to show up on the navigation bar where the Home, Documents, Pages, and Site contents links are displayed.

Modern lists allow users to easily add columns, as well as search, filter, and export data, as shown in the following screenshot:
