In this chapter, you learned about the basic Office service applications that are either available as part of Office Online Server or as native service applications in SharePoint Server 2019, such as PowerPoint and Word Automation Services, as well as Visio Graphics Service. PowerPoint and Word Automation Services can be used by developers to programmatically update or convert supported documents in document libraries. You also learned about Visio Graphics Service and how it can be used to both manipulate and render Visio diagrams.
Finally, it's also important to note that some Office application services (such as Access, Excel, and PerformancePoint) have been de-emphasized or deprecated, and Microsoft recommends using newer services available in Microsoft 365 to replace this functionality.
