Combining text
There are a few different approaches we can take to concatenate text — some approaches are better than others. Here, I will identify the pain points but also the wins.
Referencing in a compose or set variable action
The easiest way of combining text is to reference them in a compose or set variable action.
Imagine that you have three variables: First Name
, Middle Name
, and Last Name
. You want to combine them to create a Full Name field. This would be done as follows.
Set your data into the First Name
, Middle Name
, and Last Name
variables (or compose actions) first. Compose actions are often used for setting data on the fly, and the data can be accessed further within the logic app run by referencing the output of the compose action.
Tip
Remember to initialize your variables first! This needs to be done at the very start of your logic app. You can only set variables you have brought into existence.
