Setting up a ring group


Whenever we need to make a group of extensions ring when a call comes in, we set the Ring Groups module. This feature is very useful when we have a group of support technicians or sales representatives and we do not want to lose or let a call go to voicemail.

How to do it…

The steps to setup a ring group are as follows:

  1. Create a ring group in the PBX | Ring-Groups menu; this means, add an extension that will point to the ring group.

  2. Enter a description for this ring group.

  3. Set Ring Strategy.

  4. Set the maximum Ring Time.

  5. Enter the list of extensions to ring. You may leave the rest of the options with their default values.

  6. Enter a destination in case no extension answers any incoming call to the ring group.

How it works…

The way to configure a ring group is to gather all the involved extensions into a virtual extension and then set up an inbound route to that extension. It is very important to know the configuration options in order to avoid any confusion or to avoid losing calls...
