Processing or refreshing the data in your models

In both models, you reload or refresh the data in your models using processing. Processing your cube, dimension, table, or database will refresh the data in the defined object. In this section, we will be separating the processing options for multidimensional and tabular models. Remember that multidimensional models focus on reloading data to disk, whereas tabular models focus on loading data to memory.

Processing multidimensional models and their components

Most storage objects in a multidimensional database can be processed from the top-level object or database to aggregations within a measure group. Up to this point, we have been processing the database by right-clicking the database and choosing Process. Now we will look at other options for processing data and why you may choose certain options.
