In the previous section, we looked at how you can use Power Query to reduce the size of your dataset. In this section, we'll develop those skills with some common data transformations. The lessons from the previous section are also transformations, but we wanted to separate the task of reducing your dataset from the task of transforming your data to make it easier to use and more accurate to work with.
Like the rest of the book, this is far from exhaustive. Power Query is the sole topic in many books, and we have only one chapter, as our core focus here is Power BI for finance, rather than Power Query alone. Our objective is to explain some common methods we employ when working with Power BI and Power Query in the context of modeling financial data.
