Oracle SQL Developer 2.1
By :
In this chapter, we looked at the different features provided by SQL Developer that support tuning SQL statements. While working with the SQL Worksheet, writing ad hoc queries, or preparing queries for an application, you can use the Explain Plan and Autotrace features to determine the execution plans for queries you have written, and whether they are performing efficiently. Other tools provided by Oracle and exposed in SQL Developer are reports for finding the top SQL running on the server, and for monitoring your server in general, you can use the tracing and monitoring tools.
In the next chapter, we'll look at how to manage files. We'll introduce the integrated file navigator and the file history. This will be followed with a review of how SQL Developer acts as a client to open source version control systems. You'll learn how to place your code under version control and work within a team sharing code, by comparing and merging code.
