Oracle SQL Developer can act as a client to your file system and your version control repository by providing a:
File-browsing navigator that is independent of any version control management system
Separate versioning navigator
Whether you are going to version your files or not, you can simply use SQL Developer to browse and edit files. While the two navigators are independent of each other, the Files navigator forms an integral part of version control management in SQL Developer, and so it is useful to start there.
The Files and Versioning navigators are not displayed by default when you start the product. To invoke either, select the View menu:

All navigators that are displayed when closing SQL Developer are opened again on start-up.
