wxPython is a GUI toolkit for the Python programming language built on top of the cross-platform wxWidgets GUI libraries. wxPython provides a powerful set of tools that allow you to quickly and efficiently building applications that can run on a variety of different platforms. Since wxWidgets provides a wrapper around each platform’s native GUI toolkit, the applications built with wxPython will have a native look and feel wherever they are deployed. Introduction


In earlier chapters, we looked at and learned a number of things about the fundamentals of building an application with wxPython. In this chapter, we will begin to take a look at some of the slightly more advanced controls that can be used to display more complex data to users of the application in useful and compelling ways. Throughout this chapter, we will build a number of small applications, each showing how to take advantage of some of the great user interface features that each control provides. Through these exercises, we will try to highlight some of the possibilities that you could put these controls to work for in your own applications.
