In this chapter, you will learn key ways to architect and design the backend services that comprise the composite application based on the example of a new car rental system for our example company RYLC that runs throughout this book. The composite application will be built using Oracle SOA Suite 12c. You will meet many of the technologies that form a rich toolset allowing us to tackle various tasks, such as integration to backend systems, complex orchestrations, data validations, and calculations. You will be able to put SOA Suite 12c into the broader picture of the modern enterprise toolkit that is Oracle Fusion Middleware. We will shed some light on new features, such as Templates, that help to create a successful solution that follows consistent architecture and design standards.
