Summary

This chapter has reviewed the tape server, including using Linux as the operating system. We looked at adding a Linux server to the Veeam console so that the tape server role can be installed. We also looked at how you can send from object storage repositories to tape directly from the repository or via a backup job. We covered how you can now send NAS backups to tape for archiving purposes and enhanced LTO9 support. Then, we learned about some of the newest enhancements to VBR v12, including restoring file/folder permissions, VM exclusions, and exporting disks to other hypervisor formats.

Hopefully, you now have a better understanding of the tape server role and other enhancements for sending data to tape. The next chapter will look at the enhanced security measures within VBR v12.
