Defining hit points

Hit points, also referred to as sync points, visual points, visual events, or cuts, are specific spots in a movie where the music needs to adapt to or acknowledge the events while being synced with the movie in a logical way. The events could be, for example, scene cuts, dialog lines, specific actions on screen, and so on.

In film music, identifying those hit points is crucial when scoring to picture because they point out where in the movie the music needs to emphasize that precise event or moment. Hit points will be reflected in Logic Pro as scene markers and we will go over how to create scene markers later on in this chapter.
