In Citrix (or any other environment for that matter), it is critically important to have an HA solution in place to prevent major outages from severely disrupting business operations. To achieve such a state, we will deploy a second Delivery Controller and join it to the existing site. Use the following steps for joining a second controller to the XenApp site:
Create a new virtual machine using the instructions in the Creating a VM in XenCenter® section. Assign the same compute, network, and storage resources as the first Delivery Controller and append the name to differentiate from the latter. For instance, if your first one was named
CTX-DC-01
, this one can beCTX-DC-02
. In my case, I've gotXADC76
as primary andXADC76-02
as secondary.Install Windows 2012 R2 as a guest OS, deploy XenServer Tools, and apply the latest updates from Microsoft.
Assign a static IP, enroll in the domain, and reboot the VM when prompted.
