Chapter 6. Installing and Configuring NetScaler Gateway™

For a number of years, IT administrators used Secure Gateway to frontend inbound traffic from external users. However, Secure Gateway is now obsolete and Citrix has shifted their development focus to a more robust and enterprise-scale solution. In recent years, Access Gateway Enterprise (available as both a physical MPX device and virtual VPX appliance) has been widely used by bigger companies to secure external access to Citrix XenApp and the XenDesktop environments. Access Gateway Standard and Advanced Edition, on the other hand, was the more popular product among small to midsized businesses. This was until recently when Citrix completely integrated the Gateway portion with the NetScaler appliance and renamed Access Gateway to NetScaler Gateway (NGW).
