In this chapter, we've discussed the version control system and why it is so important. Also, we have picked Git as a distributed version control system, and learned how to use it from NetBeans.
We have especially focused on the following:
Distributed Version Control System or DVCS
Initializing a Git repository
Cloning a Git repository
Staging files into a Git repository
Committing changes to a Git Repository
Comparing file revisions and reverting changes
Working with remote repositories—fetching, pulling, and pushing
Working with branches—creating, checking out, switching, merging, and deleting.
Finally, we have discussed the practices and the preferred workflow for Git. We are now much more confident to join a collaborative development using Git and NetBeans.
In the next chapter, we will create a new PHP project with a user registration, login, and logout, to advance our PHP application development skills to the next level.
