Rich Internet applications versus desktop applications


Traditional desktop applications are mainly characterized by a rich user experience and complex UIs (menus, multiple windows, multiple tabs, and so on) that run fast and are deployed locally on the end user's platform. But it is going to be problematic when you are going to install, set up, maintain, and access it across networks with various security constraints on compatible hardware, OS, libraries, and so on.

Web applications overcome these aforementioned problems by introducing thin client server architecture based on internet protocols. Web browsers send requests to the server and get a response to display the output without any installations and maintenance. But the main problem is that it requires server interaction and a static look all the time and it lacks a rich UI.
