The MDM Import Server or MDIS is designed to automate import of source data into MDM repositories. It is programmed in such a way that the processing complexity, resource requirements, and import errors due to user intervention are minimized.
The advantages of the MDIS can be listed as follows:
Easy import of source files by placing the source data file in the inbound port of the MDM repository
Pre-configured import maps linked to the inbound port allows automation
Uninterrupted import of source data by handling exceptions and errors in import records
Brings down memory consumption by streaming and aggregating text and XML files thereby importing data faster and more efficiently
In order to bring clarity between the Import Manager and the Master Data Import Server, we list their strengths and weaknesses next.
